Calco — Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and Calco ("we", "us", "the app") governing your use of the Calco mobile application and related services. By downloading, accessing, or using Calco, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

1. The service

Calco is a calorie, macronutrient, weight, and water tracker. It calculates targets from the information you provide and shows your logged data back to you. Calco is a self-tracking and informational tool only.

2. Not medical or nutritional advice

Calco does not provide medical, nutritional, or professional health advice. Calorie and macro targets are estimates generated by standard formulas and are not a substitute for advice from a qualified professional. Do not use Calco to diagnose or treat any condition. Consult a doctor or registered dietitian before starting any diet, especially if you are pregnant, under 18, or have a medical condition or history of disordered eating. You use the app and act on its information at your own risk.

3. Eligibility and accounts

• You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age in your region) to use Calco.
• An account is optional; you may use Calco locally without one. If you create an account, you are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for all activity under your account.
• You agree to provide accurate information and to keep it up to date.

4. Calco Pro subscriptions

Some features are offered through Calco Pro, a paid subscription.

• Billing. Subscriptions are sold as auto-renewing purchases and are billed through your Apple App Store or Google Play account. Purchases are managed on our behalf by RevenueCat; we never receive your card details.
• Plans and price. Calco Pro is offered as monthly, annual, and/or lifetime options. The exact price, billing period, and any free-trial length are shown on the purchase screen before you confirm, in your local currency.
• Auto-renewal. Auto-renewing subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
• Free trial. If a free trial is offered, any unused portion is forfeited when you purchase a subscription. Unless cancelled at least 24 hours before it ends, a trial automatically converts to a paid subscription.
• Managing and cancelling. You can manage or cancel your subscription any time in your App Store or Google Play account settings. Cancelling stops future renewals; it does not retroactively refund the current period.
• Refunds. Purchases are handled by Apple or Google and are subject to their refund policies. We generally cannot issue refunds directly.
• Changes. We may change subscription features or pricing prospectively; changes do not affect the period you have already paid for.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• use the app for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms;
• attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or interfere with the app or its security, except where such restriction is prohibited by law;
• upload content that is unlawful, infringing, misleading, or that you do not have the right to share; or
• abuse, disrupt, or overload the service or any third-party service it relies on.

6. Your content and the community food library

You retain ownership of the data you enter. When you publish a food to the community library, you grant us and other users a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use, display, and distribute that food's name, brand, and nutrition information within the app. You are responsible for the accuracy and legality of what you publish, and you confirm you have the right to share it. We may remove community content that is inaccurate, abusive, or violates these Terms.

7. Third-party services and data

Calco relies on third-party services, including Open Food Facts (food data), Google Firebase (auth, sync, analytics, crash reporting), Google AdMob (advertising for free-tier users), RevenueCat (subscriptions), and, where you enable optional AI features, an AI provider. Food data from Open Food Facts and similar sources may be incomplete or inaccurate; verify nutrition information where it matters. Your use of these services is also subject to their terms.

8. Advertising

Free-tier users may see ads. Calco Pro removes ads. Where required, we present a consent choice for personalised advertising.

9. Intellectual property

Calco, its name, logo, design, and software are owned by us and protected by intellectual-property laws. These Terms grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app for its intended purpose. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.

10. Disclaimers

The app is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and accuracy. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that calculations, food data, or sync will be accurate or complete.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or health outcomes, arising from your use of the app. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (or, if you paid nothing, zero). Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.

12. Termination

You may stop using Calco at any time and delete your account and data from within the app (Account → Delete account). We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms or use the app in a way that could harm us or others. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (e.g. content licences, disclaimers, limitation of liability) will survive.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be noted with a new "Last updated" date, and where appropriate we will notify you in the app. Your continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Slovak Republic, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. The courts of the Slovak Republic will have exclusive jurisdiction, unless mandatory local law provides otherwise. If you are a consumer in the European Union, you also benefit from any mandatory consumer-protection provisions of the law of the country where you reside, and you may bring proceedings in the courts of that country.
